Fashion, Fun, & a little Food

Hi everyone, was so busy last week preparing for a trip to New Mexico that I had no time to blog and even mention it! Anyhow, I am here in Albuquerque now with one of my best friend’s, Kara, visiting for the week. We are headed down to Las Cruces, where I grew up, on Thursday to attend a wedding over the weekend and then I will be flying back to Seattle on Sunday. Not sure how much blogging I will get done this week, but I will have a special feature on Wednesday in which my friend Mollie and I will be writing about our recent experience at the revamped Savvy dept. in Nordstrom. Looking forward to sharing that with you all, I got a few really cute things!

Today I’m hanging out working at the McDonald’s watching one of Kara’s adorable daughters, Allie, run around the playground : ) Here we are!

Happy Monday!

This past Sunday night Michael and I headed to a fun little theatre here in Seattle called The Big Picture with some friends to see the Bourne Legacy. Anyone else seen it yet? I thought it was pretty good given action movies aren’t my favorite.

It was definitely a warm day, but I didn’t want to wear shorts because I know that the air conditioning can get chilly in these places! So instead I went with white jeans and decided to take inspiration from this cute, casual outfit on Reese Witherspoon.

Quintessential simple Summer pieces paired together are all it takes sometimes. This gingham shirt has gotten a ton of use and transitions well into Fall with layers – I definitely suggest putting one on your shopping list if you don’t already have one.

Hey Everyone! Hope you all made it through another Wednesday.

My day was actually pretty good. After an intense 8 minute workout at Crossfit, I got ready to go to lunch with my friend, Julie! I eat lunch at home most days so it is always a nice treat to go out with fun company. Even better, we went to Nordstrom, which honestly puts a smile on my face no matter what – so many pretty things to look at! I even got to go to Nordy’s a second time this evening with Michael to pick up a jacket he was having tailored, and while we were there I found an awesome little straw hat that will be perfect for some upcoming trips we have. Pretty fabulous day for Amy!

I recently ordered this royal blue “Bubble Necklace” from ebay that I really wanted to wear – it is a knock off of one from J. Crew that costs $150. I don’t have that kind of budget so this one suits me just fine at $13.99 instead. Yay! I’m already trying to decide which color to order next… I’m thinking white.

I decided to show it off over a basic orange tank, and then paired with white jeans and my Payless shoes that are still going strong. I swear, if you ever come across a printed shoe that includes most of your favorite colors, don’t hesitate to get them. Even better if the cost you less than $20. I ended up adding my striped blazer for the evening as it got a little cooler.

Happy Friday’s Eve to you all! I’m having a great time here in New York, gearing up for my sister-in-law’s rehearsal dinner tonight, and then the big day on Saturday!

The gorgeous Stefanie of Everyday Polished was kind enough to volunteer to do a guest post for me while I’m running around here. She just started her blog in April, and I’m glad to have found it because she puts together some adorable outfits (see my fav post so far here, so many great ideas for my pink blazer!), finds amazing bargains, and I look forward to following for inspiration – be sure to check it out!

Hi everybody! My name is Stefanie, and I’m guest posting from Everyday Polished at http://everydaypolished.blogspot.com/.

I’m a teacher, and I spend a ton of money on dry cleaning during the school year. During the summer, I really try to keep me wardrobe as low maintenance as possible without living in sweatpants. My secret to still having a fun style while keeping it comfy and casual is fun color-blocked colors and unique jewelry. In my outfit below, I take a simple t-shirt from TJ Maxx and pair it with a fun colored necklace. This outfit is comfortable, fun and machine washable!

What I’m Wearing:

Mustard T-Shirt: TJ Maxx- $6.50

J. Crew Necklace: Via eBay – $17.50

White Jeans: Ann Taylor LOFT Signature Straight -$69.50 (sold out online, but available in stores)

Flip Flops: Banana Republic 2009 – $19.50

Thanks to Amy for letting me guest post and I hope everyone has a great summer!

Hope you all have had a great start to your weekend!

Last night some girlfriend’s and I got together for happy hour followed by a trip to the theatre to see Magic Mike. Let’s just say this is definitely true…

I was actually on the same plane with Mr. McConaughey on my trip back from Miami. On my flight that went from Miami to LAX  we boarded from the front of the plane, and on the way back to my seat I passed right by him in first class. I actually recognized his voice as he was talking on his cell phone before I realized it was him, and I was like “OMG, I am about to be within inches of Matthew MConaughey”. I played it cool, but inside I was freaking out a little. He was gorgeous in person by the way. : )

I certainly wish I had a picture of that moment to share with you, but unfortunately you are stuck with just pictures of my outfit from yesterday, which was a more subtle take on red, white, & blue. I layered a navy blue cami under my open weave oatmeal colored sweater (last seen here), paired with white jeans, and added a chunky necklace for a pop of red.

It is apparently the weekend of movies for me, because tonight we are headed to go see “Ted” – I have to be honest, the premise of a talking bear seems kind of stupid to me, but I’ll keep an open mind. Hope you all have a great one whatever you are doing!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all have a fun weekend planned. It is supposed to be almost 80 here in Seattle this weekend, which is practically unheard of, so we are going to be spending plenty of time outdoors. Last night the hubby and I had a fun date to see the Avengers in 3-D Imax. I’m not a huge action movie fan, but this one wasn’t too bad. Although a little more romance and a little less destruction wouldn’t have hurt : )

Aren’t we cute in our glasses?

Michael begrudgingly took an outfit photo for me, he was anxious to get in line! The sunny day was perfect for white jeans which I topped with a floaty navy blue blouse and tan moto style jacket I picked up on clearance during my Ann Taylor shopping spree in New York (using the gift card my Dad and his wife gave me for Christmas) and I added a little print with these floral shoes my MIL passed down to me.

Just want to also take the time to say a Happy (Early) Mother’s Day to all of you mom’s out there, but especially to my amazing Mom, Lynn, and to my Mother-in-Law, Carla. You are both beautiful, generous, loving and I am so grateful to have you!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Well happy almost Friday my readers. Just had a nice long lunch with co-workers including my boss so that made for a pretty decent Thursday so far. And tonight I am going to see the musical Saving Aimee at our 5th Avenue Theatre so that should be fun, I will let you know how it is tomorrow.

I finally got my camera back, yay! So now I have pics from North Carolina as well as today’s outfit to share. So happy : )

Here Michael and I are at the rehearsal dinner, such a beautiful spot on the water in Hampstead, NC. Wore my white jeans, along with this blouse my mother in law bought me at this random surf shop in San Diego.

Here we are waiting for the wedding to begin – wore a dress with an asymetrical hem, along with this scarf/wrap I picked up in Capri and my Capri sparkly sandals – glad I wore flats, they were perfect for the grass!

My gorgeous red headed (so jealous of her hair) Cousin Lisa, sister of the Groom, she looks so good in this blue

And then the beautiful bride, Marissa, along with my cousin, the Groom, Brooks, and our 2 adorable 2nd cousins, Kensie and Annika who were also my flowergirls – they are sooooo cute! What a fabulous wedding!

Now not sure I can top all that, but for today’s outfit I broke out the red pants again, and I was actually planning on doing this with the white blouse tucked in and then adding a leopard belt and black shoes. But the shirt just didn’t look quite right tucked in and I knew it would bug me all day, so decided to leave the shirt untucked and go with my leopard shoes instead. I always love a red and leopard combo. Undecided if I am going to change before the show tonight. I’ve been out in the rain today and I always feel better when I get a chance to freshen up so there may be a second outfit for tonight!

Oh, and check out my adorable little photo bomber, Coco, on the chair. Isn’t she a cutie? I could have cropped her out, but I think she wanted to say hi.
