Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Sunday night I was very excited to be able to meet up with one of my very best friends from high school, Kristin, for a girl’s night out. She was in town for work, and one of the best things about living here is all the people who pass through.

I will admit that my usually colorful self has been much more drawn to neutrals since I moved here…. It was a bit of a warmer day so I decided it was the perfect opportunity to take my new black and white shoes for a spin and I ended up planning my outfit around those.

Does anyone else have a hard time finding layering tunics? Something you can wear with skinnies or leggings but layer blazers and cardigans over? Well I finally came across some tunic tanks that are awesome, and a steal at $13.95. I took a small in these. Have I also mentioned how awesome Hue leggings are? Get some, you will thank me.

As promised, I’ve gotten my act together this month and have put together 5 different outfits using the same white H&M blazer. I got mine last year, but I believe this same one is still in stores. Let’s get started!

First off, a white blazer is always a great topper to a blouse and dark skinny jeans. So I started with my polka dot tie neck blouse, and then added hot pink shoes for a pop of color. (Just picked these up at the Ann Taylor family & friends sale while I was in NY, the perfect heel height)

Jeans – JBrand, Blouse – Piperlime, Shoes – Ann Taylor

I love blazers with a polished pair of shorts, so cute! I pulled out my hot pink shorts, paired with a navy and white striped shirt, and then added a floral shoe. I would dress this up by switching out these shoes for a nude sandal.

A white blazer is perfect for a nautical look. Just throw over a navy and white striped tank with jeans, accessorize with some gold jewelry, and you are all set.

I wanted to do a look with a skirt as well and this black and white polka dot one seemed like the perfect match. Just paired with a simple black tank and some cork t-strap heels.

Skirt – Loft via ebay, Tank – H&M, Shoes – Franco Sarto via Marshall’s

And lastly, my mother in law generously bought me this fun striped maxi dress while I was in NY and I thought a blazer would be the perfect way to add a little structure to a floaty dress. Went with low heeled sandals and silver accents to keep the vibe casual.

What’s your favorite way to wear a white blazer?

Well Fall officially starts this Friday, and we are having a pretty nice week here in Seattle, so I am taking advantage of the final days of summer by showcasing bare legs, bare toes, and my cotton white blazer. This top I am wearing today hasn’t been worn in quite awhile and has almost hit the Goodwill pile a few times, but has stuck around for some reason. Finally decided it needed to come out if it was going to continue taking up space! I was deciding between wearing a belt or a necklace and went with the necklace. Even though the top is a busy print, I like the accessory addition. Also loving these David Yurman inspired Premier Design bracelets I finally ordered, I really like them layered with my watch. Tonight I am going to get my shoes switched out for Fall shoes and try to organize a bit, my husband is going to the Sounders game and then has a soccer game of his own, so I will have the place all to myself! Funny how when you are single, you get excited when you have someone, but once you are married, a night with your place all alone to get some stuff done can be very exciting! : )

And now a quick and easy dinner recipe since I happened to take a picture of the final product – Bunless Chili Dogs!

Basically I just threw together a chile by sauteeing a diced onion and yellow zucchini I had on hand with a little crushed garlic in a pot, added a pound of grass fed ground beef and sauteed until cooked. Then thew in 2 cans of fire roasted diced tomatoes with green chiles, along with 2 Tbsp of cumin, 1 1/2 Tbsp of chile powder, as well as salt, pepper, and some onion powder to taste and let it simmer for about 15 minutes -so easy! In a skillet warmed up some nitrate free all natural beef hot dogs, and served smothered in chile with a sprinkle of cheese. Very tasty and fast! (I enjoyed this with a cherry tomato and fresh mozzarella salad on the side)

So today’s outfit inspiration comes from J at J’s Everyday Fashion. I have decided that my “going out” shirts don’t get enough time out of the closet and am determined to make them work for the office on a more regular basis. When I saw this outfit, it immediately made me think of a grey shirt I have that has generally been regulated for nights out on the weekend.

So here is my version, the neckline of this top is asymetrical, but I like the way it adds a little interest under the blazer. I just added some big turquoise earrings for a touch of color!

Do you have certain items that you save just for going out?

ps – Sorry about all the crap on the floor in the background. When you live in a condo getting things down to the garage takes some time!
