Almost to the weekend, yay!
Put this outfit together to run errands and meet Michael for dinner. I used to be scared to pair black with yellow to avoid the “bumble bee” effect, but I really like the combo now when done right – I think adding a print helps make it work.
Don’t forget the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is open to all today – check out my picks!

Last night I went to see my first opera, Cinderella, or more accurately, La Cenerentola, with my friend, Monica. It was really good! It was in Italian but had subtitles on a screen above the stage.
Of course I had to dress up so that’s 2 posts this week that don’t involve jeans, I’m on a roll!
I hadn’t worn this black and blue turtleneck yet this winter season, and decided to think outside the box about what to pair it with, black pants and jeans being the obvious choice. My polka dot skirt of course! Added my bow heels for a little extra feminine touch, and my mother in law was kind enough to pass on this bag to me because I think she thought I might cry if she made me give it back. And she is super generous : )

Yesterday we finally got above the 70 degree mark so of course I had to pull out a skirt – who knows when I might get this chance again!
You saw this skirt last time when tights were required, so I was excited to pull it out for an outing downtown with bare legs. A denim or chambray shirt is a great way to dress down a skirt a bit, it was a casual day after all, and then I added my comfy wedges for all the walking I was going to do. I pulled out my red and cream purse to add an extra pop of color. Oh, and if you are looking for the perfect shade of coral lipstick for the summer, you might want to try Poppy King from JCrew. It is even on sale right now! My good friend, April, introduced it to me when we were in Austin and I am hooked now.
Tonight we are having a friend from out of town over for dinner. I’m making a marinated sockeye salmon, along with pinapple grilled shrimp, zucchini & tomato grill packets, bacon wrapped dates, and for dessert, grilled apricots with a chevre and cinnamon honey filling. Yum! Will try to get pics and recipes posted this week.
Have a great Tuesday!

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine went by much too quickly. I have just a few outfits to share before I head off to whip up some dinner.
I wore this to work last week sometime, I became obsessed with finding a polka dotted skirt but didn’t want to spend a lot on it because I really don’t wear skirts all that much. However, when I found this one one ebay for $12 including shipping, I decided to pull the trigger. I ended up having it hemmed a little because I found the longer length along with the volume didn’t work that well, but now I love it! And yes, tights are still required here…

I am in the middle of doing file audits at work and basically spend the whole day alone in a room going through files. Sounds exciting right? Um, not so much. So today I just wanted to be comfy and cozy. I went with my go to black skinny pants, a black blouse, and then added my flyaway cardi and boots along with some black and gold jewelry to jazz things up a bit. And truth be told I wore this out on Sunday too. So I was also too lazy to come up with a new outfit.
I will try and get some more posts out this week, my creative juices need to be exercised!
