Hi, Denim and Dots readers! I’m Amy’s friend Reina and I’ll be guest blogging for her while she’s on her trip to Ecuador. First, isn’t Amy’s blog the best? I know I’m an avid reader, so I was honored when she asked me to fill in for her while she’s away. Just to tell you a little about myself, I live in Washington, D.C. and work in corporate communications. Like Amy, I grew up in New Mexico (we went to high school together), so I love sunshine, color and all things spicy. On the weekends, I love exploring the city, enjoying good food and, let’s be honest, a little shopping.
Yesterday was a pretty typical Saturday for me. I spent the day running errands and then met a friend to watch the Notre Dame football game (I’m an alum – go Irish!). I like to be comfortable on the weekends, yet stylish. I LOVE color, so I couldn’t resist these orange pants when I spotted them at Loft. I may have also purchased them in aubergine. I think a good chambray shirt is an essential to any wardrobe and since I am known for my love of polka dots, this one was perfect! I bought this one last year, but I’ve seen similar styles in the stores this year.
I’ve gotten really into statement necklaces this year, and I think it’s a great way to turn a simple outfit into something special. Being from NM, I am drawn to turquoise. This one I purchased from Accessory Auctions via Facebook. Last but not least, the booties. So, at first I was on the fence about booties. Are they really flattering? Will I look like an elf? However, after much consideration, I’ve decided that I like them. I’m not sure I’ll be brave enough to wear them with a skirt, but I think with pants they just look like boots. I didn’t own any shoes this color, and one of my favorite bloggers, Sweet Caroline in the City, wore a similar pair the other day and I was sold. I found a pair via Nordstrom’s Half-Yearly sale, and I think they’re a great investment for fall/winter.
This was first “outfit post” ever, so I hope you guys enjoyed it. Have a great rest of the weekend!

I really enjoy booties too. They work double duty because you can wear them with skinnies or bootcuts.
