Happy Friday! Hope you all have some fun plans for the weekend. I am meeting an old friend for happy hour after work tonight, and then I plan on doing this…
My husband has left me to my own devices this weekend while he is away at a bachelor party in Las Vegas (poor thing) and I plan on taking advantage of it by watching all the chick flicks and bad TV I want. My Cousin Lisa is going to come over and have a slumber party with me on Saturday night too which I am very excited about. These are things you don’t get to do much once you are married.
Last night’s dinner turned out really well so I snapped a picture. It was my first foray into kabocha squash, which I found at Whole Foods and had to try after seeing it numerous times on Nom Nom Paleo. We both loved it, and it was very easy, so it will definitely be on the menu again soon. Recipe for that here. For the main dish I just sauteed some diced bacon until it was about half done, then added 2 diced chicken breasts to the mix and continued sauteeing until the outside was cooked, then added a small bag of frozen brussels sprouts. I seasoned simply with sea salt, pepper, and a few tsp. of a lemon herb seasoning I had as well as a little paprika, and just kept cooking until brussels sprouts were done. Michael loved it. He told me his new motto is “when in doubt, brussels sprout”. I’m not joking.
Today’s outfit was actually worn before back when Michael and I went into the city over Christmas in New York but it was hidden under my cape (that it is still unfortunately too cold to wear here yet) so I figured I would pull it out again for today. I like a little daytime sparkle, perfect to jazz up a Friday at work. I did decide to try some layered pearls this time though and I really like how it turned out. This is actually a pretty simple outfit formula – skinny jeans tucked into boots, tunic sweater, and some statement jewelry. I think it would look great on just about anyone!
See you back here Monday, have a fabulous weekend!
