Dotted and Tied

The weekend is finally upon us! And even better news for me is that it is a 3 day weekend thanks to President’s Day. I had forgotten about this until yesterday when a co-worker reminded me. It is a good thing he did because otherwise I would have been one unhappy camper when I showed up Monday for work and no one else was here… Now instead of coming to work, I plan on spending the day doing a little Spring shopping and then getting a wonderful 90 minute massage with a gift certificate I got to a spa for my birthday last year. Can’t wait!

And for a little Friday link love:

Check out my adorable friend Emily’s blog called He Cooks, She Shops and her post on Curvy Girl Denim

An always inspiring to read success story over at Mark’s Daily Apple

And some very interesting food for thought, in my opinion, by Tom over at Fathead that I just have to provide a quote from below:

“Once a government acquires the power to regulate an industry, it also has the ability to rig the game in ways that can be worth millions to particular corporations or segments of that industry. Being self-interested (and certainly not being stupid), the muckety-mucks from that industry recognize that if they can leverage government’s coercive powers, they can enrich themselves. Are there competitors we don’t like? No problem … we just need some health and safety regulations that cripple them. Is our industry faltering, or just not making as much profit as we’d like? Simple … we declare what we produce a public necessity and get some generous government subsidies. In other words, if we can just take away other people’s freedom to engage in voluntary exchanges and make their own decisions, we can do really, really well for ourselves!”

And finally, time for the outfit of the day! Yes, it has dots and ties if you couldn’t figure that out from the title. I’ve always been particularly fond of polka dots, and it makes me especially happy that they are big this year. So when I came across this polka dot blouse on Pinterest that not only, gasp, had polka dots, but also an adorable tie neck detail at a reasonable price, I had to have it! Paired with jeans and my burgandy tassle pumps today, but looking forward to wearing this with white jeans when it warms up a bit, as well as tucked into pencil skirts, and layered under blazers.

Jeans – DL 1961, Blouse – Piperlime, Shoes – Joan and David Circa

Hope some of you also get to enjoy a 3 day weekend, I’ll see you back here on Tuesday!

I have the same blouse! I’ve been wearing it over a fuchsia pink pencil skirt with heeled black boots or under a black cashmere sweater with jeans and a pair of Paul Green bronze wedge heeled pumps. It looks cute on you.

Ha ha, can’t believe you have the same one. Love the idea with a pink pencil skirt – I really need to expand my collection!
