Ain’t Nothing like the Real Thing

Today I’m wearing one of my Nordstrom half yearly sale purchases, this red BCBG blouse and guess what? It is real silk. And it feels so wonderful I want to sleep in it. Note to self, get real silk nightgown (Christmas maybe?). We all know I am a bit of a bargain shopper, and it isn’t  always easy to find a real silk blouse in the right fit, the right color, and at a price I’m willing to fork over. I am definitely not above wearing well done imitation silk like my Mad Men blouse. But it makes me really happy to have found this blouse at half price, which still wasn’t uber cheap, but a bargain in my mind anyway- sometimes the real thing is just worth it. I have a few different ideas for this blouse which include wearing it under the grey vest seen here, but today I just wanted to let it shine on it’s own.

I paired with my Gap Always Skinny jeans that I highly recommend everyone give a shot. They often have sales so y0u can get them for a great price, and I have found they fit many different body shapes. When I have a client in the market for new jeans, I always send them there first. My old Nine West leopard print pumps finally had to be retired so these are a new pair. The only problem with pony hair is that eventually the color wears off if rubbed too much, and back when I was commuting the Nine West pair took a beating on the back of the heel. I was sad to see them go, but managed to replace them with a coupon from DSW and I’m really liking this new almond toe pair. I tied in the black in the shoes with a black statement necklace, and then bundled on up because it is cold and windy out today!

LOVE this outfit! I’m going to copy it! I have a bright red blouse (polyester silk – for a Mom, I need Polyester because it’s machine washable) from Loft and my gorgeous Paige Skyline skinny jeans. I also have my Nine West Rocha pumps in Leopard Print. I was at a loss as to what to wear to a holiday party in 2 weeks and this may be THE outfit.

Sounds adorable Lauren! I will always be a fan of good polyester silk even if I manage to find a few real silk pieces along the way too : )

Love Gap Always Skinny jeans. I have about 6 pairs. I loved the ones from last year that had minor distressing on the legs. I wish they would bring those back. I have the dark denim, ones from this season but they are too baggy in the knee to wear with tall boots. There is something about them this year that is different to me.

That’s too bad about the new ones, you might want to try on a few different pairs when you go in, I find sometimes each pair is cut just a little differently. At least you have your older ones that work!

I really like pairing a red silky top with leopard heels; you’ll be able to wear this combination with many variations of skirts and trousers.

Great new heels. I like the lighter color in the leopard print. They pick up your light hair nicely. I am also a fan of Gap skinny jeans. I also like AG and AT for my pear shape.
