Manic Monday

Hope you all had a great weekend! We spent Friday night catching up with an old friend at happy hour, Saturday I headed out to do some wine tasting with my cousin a few friends in the afternoon, and then Saturday night Michael and I had a wonderful time at our friend’s, Olivia and Illi’s, house along with another couple, Jon and Ramona. So much fun and Olivia made an amazing pork roast that was wrapped around garlic and apricots – she is an awesome cook! Sunday we headed to our friend’s, Katie and George’s, for a late lunch (also delicious) and to meet their youngest daughter for the first time – we took out a little Chrstimas outfit for her that consisted of a red tutu and it was soooo cute to see her running around in it – I wish I could pull off a red tutu!

Here is the outfit I wore all weekend – hey, I was seeing totally different people! This is the cape I mentioned in Friday’s post that I picked up at the Nordstrom sale and absolutely love  – hence why I wore it both days – don’t tell me you’ve never done that… I would never usually go for something so “waist surrendering” but I think somehow the draping and assymetrical edges make this one work – hope you agree!

Jeans – DL 1961 via Nordie’s sale (similar), Cape – I think Halogen (similar), T-shirt – Ann Taylor, Shoes – Missoni for Target

Today it is back to the grind unfortunately. Thanksgiving week can’t come fast enough – we are headed back to New York for a week and it is always such a fun and relaxing time with Michael’s family there.

I actually saw a picture of a girl wearing the same t-shirt I have on today with a black skirt and a leopard scarf so I thought I would give that a try, but I think the belt on this skirt was just too big along with the rather large scarf. So I switched to this smaller polka dot scarf instead. What do you think about the stripes and polka dot pattern mixing? Tonight I’m headed up to the UW Chi Omega chapter where I am an advisor to give a presentation on proper “pin attire” to the new members so I think this outfit will work for that as well – but I’m also a big fan of multiple outfits in a day when given the chance so we’ll see. : )

Top – H&M (similar), Skirt – INC (similar), Tights – Spanx Tight End, Shoes – Target, Scarf – Target (similar)

Very cute outfit!

That cape looks fabulous on you, great outfit! It actually looks very slimming (but then you are a slim girl!) I also like what you did with the polka dot/stripe combo, it really works.

I love this outfit.Monday is outstanding for taste and drama. Oh how nice that cape looks.I am only 5’3″. I find capes difficult to wear. You look great both days.

Thanks Marita! I actually didn’t think I would find one that would work either, so just give some a try, you never know!

love love love the stripes!

Both of these outfits are darling. I think when you have a great go-to outfit, you should feel free to wear it as many times as you like in succession. It’s an American attitude that we need to constantly change our clothes. My husband has only a handful of well-edited clothes in his closet, and he looks appropriate and well-dressed each time he ventures out – despite wearing the same thing over and over again. Or maybe because of it? Anyhow, I say wear the cap frequently!

I agree, I love how Kate Middleton reuses items. I will wear it a lot!

Love the polkadot scarf with the striped shirt, very fresh

I also love the polka dot/stripe combo! You can never go wrong with classic black and white. 🙂
