Black, White, and Black all over

First of all a few shopping tips if you are looking for anything right now – Ann Taylor is having 40% off all pants, the Gap is having $40 off any $100 purchase, and Old Navy is having 30% off your entire purchase with a friends and family coupon as well.

Today’s outfit consists of one of my very favorite tunics. I picked this up on sale last year at WHBM and am so glad I did. It sort of started my love affair of tunics and sweater dresses, and made me jump in on the fact that leggings are back! (as long as they aren’t worn as pants obviously) It was hiding in storage, but has returned to my closet thankfully! Not really sure why it was ever banished there in the first place…

This tunic before had a black matching belt and belt loops, but this morning I decided I didn’t like where the belt loops made the belt sit, so once again just snipped those suckers off and added my own belt – I like it even better now!

What do you think about sweater tunics/dresses?

(sorry about the crates in the picture, they are from – see review in previous post)

Wow – this is absolutely gorgeous! I think this might be one of my favourite outfits of yours. I’m starting to get the whole tunics-with-leggings thing, although being short, I have to watch that the tunic isn’t too long. In fact today I just took a sweater dress to my tailor to have it shortened into a tunic and like you, removed the belt that came with it and cut off the fabric belt loops.

I noticed you’re wearing BR leggings. May I ask if you like them? I have yet to find leggings that are comfortable and durable for me.

Thansk Shannon! Can’t wait to see that look on you. I really like the Banana Republic leggings, very comfy. I actually just picked a few pairs up from Old Navy yesterday that I also really like so you might want to try there as well.

Two things leap out at me here. First, how SLIMMING this tunic is. Second, how on earth did you do your hair? TUTORIAL, PLEASE! I love a good updo, but never figured out how to make it look like an actual style and not a “my hair needs to be washed” afterthought!

Thanks Erin! My cousin is coming over for dinner on Tuesday, and I will try and have her get a tutorial video. It is actually really easy and this and my high bun are my go to “second day hair” styles : )

agree with Shannon …probably one of my favorite outfits that I’ve seen you post! I might be slightly biased because I love black, white and anything paisley so you had a triple right there but the leggings and boots knocked it out of the ballpark. Great job !

    Thanks Kim!

The sulky kitten

Hi, I’ve been following your blog for ages and I agree that this is one of your best outfits yet. Black and white always looks sharp, and you have a great figure so it looks really pretty on you. Tunics and sweater dresses are a great idea when worn like this. Thank you also for posting some great recipes. Love those boots too!!

Thank you Sulky Kitten : ) I appreciate the comment and compliment!

Like everyone else has already said, this outfit is a total stunner! And I love that your hair is up to really show off the gorgeous neckline on the tunic. It’s perfection!

Thanks Natalie, I will have to remember that when I wear it next time!

love this look! I’ve never worn leggings before, and usually just wear tights with my sweater dresses. However, I ‘m 3 months pregnant and decided to give the Old Navy maternity leggings a whirl now that I am starting to show – wore them over the weekend with a sweater tunic/short dress, high boots, and a belted cardigan and felt GREAT at a family event and then shopping later on in the evening 🙂 Yay for fall! (Agree with you on “Leggings are NOT pants”!)

Sounds like a cute outfit Megan! Thanks for the comment!
