Happy Halloween!

Sorry to disappoint if you were hoping to see a costume. I didn’t dress up this weekend or today. Well I did dress up this weekend, just not in a costume!

Friday night was spent playing games at my cousin’s house with my Uncle David who was in town – lots of fun! I whipped up a batch of pumpkin spice cakes and they were a big hit.

Saturday was spent going to Costco, dragging my winter clothes out of the storage unit, and then switching out some summer only clothes with winter only clothes in the closet. Saturday night got better when Michael and I went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Lola, where I had a delicious Greek salad and lamb kabobs. Then we headed to a Frank Sinatra tribute concert at Benaroya Hall and ended the night at the W hotel bar for drinks with Cousin Lisa and Uncle David. Sunday Michael worked during the day while I did more closet cleaning and then we went to see Footloose – hmm, could have waited for it to come out on Netflix – it was exactly the same as the first one!

For the Saturday night events, I broke out the white tuxedo jacket again but paired it with my leather pencil skirt this time.

Today went straight to an easy new sweater dress – I don’t like to have to think much on Mondays. My Cousin Jill bought this for me on sale at the Loft as a thank you for spending 7 hours shopping with her – thanks Jill! (she showed up Friday night in the cutest outfit – skinny green cords tucked into gorgeous boots with a cream colored blouse and cranberry cardigan – love it!)

So here it is paired with Spanx Tight End tights, and my Shoe Dazzle Mary Jane’s. One of my readers, Karissa, tipped me off that Spanx is having 25% off through the end of today using the code SPANXFF25OFF so if you need some great tights don’t hesitate to take advantage of this deal. The comfort waistband is worth the price and these will keep you warm! (I realize this dress might be a bit on the short side for work without leggings, but given the dress code free environment in which I work, I think I can get away with it thanks to the opaque tights)

And for all you foodies out there, here are some weekend eats

Saturday morning breakfast was a bacon, onion, sundried tomato and goat cheese frittata (added spinach to my half because Michael won’t eat it) – so yummy. Just sauteed the bacon, then added onion and tomato for bit, then poured 8 beaten eggs into skillet, topped with some goat cheese and spinach on my half, then into oven at 350 for 20 minutes or until set.

Dinner last night was chicken fajita bowls, always a favorite. I made a lot so I would have leftovers for lunches. Sauteed 4 diced organic chicken breasts in a Tbsp or so of virgin coconut oil, then added an onion and 3 sliced bell peppers, along with the easiest seasoning ever – 2 Tbsp chile powder, 2 Tbsp Cumin, 1 Tsp Garlic Powder, 1 Tsp Oregano, and a 1/4 Tsp Cayenne, with some salt and pepper. Sauteed until peppers were soft and served with a little cheese, some organic salsa and sour cream, and finished with sliced avocado.

As for this evening, I will be cooking up something yummy, but not entertaining any trick or treaters as we live in a condo. My Mom, however, will be passing out treats along with my little dog, Caleb, who lives with her in Southern California now – he is going to be a sailor so hopefully I will have a cute pic to share tomorrow! Here is a great post from Sarah at Everyday Paleo for any of you with kids on Surviving Halloween that is full of great ideas for a fun holiday without a sugar coma.

What will you be doing tonight? Happy Halloween!

I absolutely adore the leather skirt! So hot! And your hair looks great in the striped-dress picture!!! Well, it looks great in both pictures, but I haven’t seen it done in the second style, so it’s new to me!

Thanks Erin! My hair is naturally straight but of course that means I want curly hair. Going to try and go with the natural texture more often.

Savory Simple

I love that sweater dress!

    Thank you!
