“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” – Coco Chanel
Today is my Chanelesque day! Our cat, Coco, is actually named after Ms. Chanel : )
I’d been wanting a cute tweedy Chanelish cropped jacket, but finding one that isn’t too boxy is a challenge. So when I came across this jacket-like little sweater at Banana Republic on the sale rack, that along with a coupon, could get for $35, I knew it was a steal and just what I had been looking for. Not only is it comfy, but also has sparkle! What can I say, I get distracted by shiny things…
And what better to do with a sweater like this than add a bunch of pearls a’la Coco Chanel herself? So I threw on 2 different Premier Designs pearl necklaces and I love it! The chain pearls add just enough edge to the classic ones, and the jeans keep it casual.
As for last night, I did decide to go home and change before the show, changing into a fresh outfit always perks me up. Went to happy hour with my friends and then the show, Saving Aimee, which was a bit on the long side, but pretty good. Interesting story about Aimee Semple McPherson who was a very influential evangelical minister back in the 1920’s. Went with my always comfy knit pants, and decided it was cold enough to finally break out the faux fur! I love this sweater, and it is great because the faux fur collar is detachable so it also work as just a plain black cardi – versatility is always a plus. I don’t normally wear this much black at once, but I like how it makes the fur stand out. The shoes are the same I am wearing today, a cute faux suede Mary Janeish pump that I got from Shoe Dazzle – check it out!
So glad Friday is here, looking forward to relaxing with the hubby tonight, a closet cleanout appt. then going out with friends tomorrow, and a chocolate festival on Sunday! (hoping to find some good 80-100% cacao chocolate as it is very low in sugar and doesn’t cause huge blood sugar spikes – yay!) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
