Dressed Up Denim

Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was so busy it flew by much too quickly. I spent, I kid you not, 7 hours this weekend shopping! No, not for me of course, but for my cousin, Jill! She needed a whole new wardrobe and now she has one. We didn’t have time to put together all the outfits, but when we do in the next few weeks, I will see if she will let me take some before and after photos to share with you all. She got some great stuff!

Today was a “putting off getting dressed because I have no idea what to wear day.” Then I remembered this picture I found on Pinterest last week and voila! outfit inspiration to the rescue! Denim shirt with black pants. Now I don’t do tattered shirts or motorcycle boots, but the point of inspiration is to then put it together in a way that fits with your own style.

Um, this may be the 3rd day in a row I have worn these pants – I just love them so much and they never lose their shape. I decided to go with my leopard print shoes to jazz everything up a bit, and also added a statement necklace. Finally I managed to get some clothes on and out the door.

Happy Monday!

I love this look! Would you believe I don’t have a denim/chambray shirt?? It’s been on my to-do list for over a year. I occasionally wear my chambray dress tucked in as a shirt, but I think it’s time to bite the bullet. You look great and I love the shoes and necklace. They take what could be a very plain/masculine look and make it fun and feminine. Nice.

Thanks Erin, I love that dress you have!

Oooh, very awesome! This is outfit perfection in my book!

This looks beautiful! Love how you added the shoes.
Are these a ponte knit pant?
Also, what did your cousin purchase for a whole new wardrobe…just interested 🙂
Thanks, Vina

They are what I would call a ponte knit pant, the knit is very thick and they are so comfy. My cousin got 5 pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of skinny cords, 3 dress pants, 2 blazers, and a bunch of cute sweaters and tops!

Hi amy, I’ve stumbled across your site thru YLF. I loved your interpretation of your imspiration pic and think what you’ve done is much more stylish! This is the first time I,ve actually seen someone’s outfit that i really liked and was able to go to my own closet and say.. IVe got that, and that , and that …. So today Im’ wearing black straight cut cords, medium blue chambray shirt w/ black T under, and since I don’t have any animal print shoes (yet LOL) I’m wearing a little leopard print scarf and cognac leather wedge booties. And I feel great in this out fit.
Thank yu for the wonderful inspiration!! 🙂 Sue

Thank you Sue! Your outfit sounds great and I’m sure it looked fabulous with the scarf and booties!

I really like the mix of denim and black. I thought of your outfit today when I got dressed and wore black trousers with a denim blazer. I don’t have any animal prints yet but it’s on my shopping list. Thanks for the idea!
