My Shopping Hiatus

Eek, it pains me to say this, but I feel like sharing this goal of mine will help me be more committed to it. Michael and I are hoping to get a bigger condo at some point soon and that can be an expensive venture so I need to help out with our savings more! I have a closet full of clothes, haven’t even pulled out my winter items from storage, and I need to be better about shopping my closet! So, I am making the goal to not buy any new items until Black Friday when I go shopping with my Mother in Law over Thanksgiving. The only exception to this will be if I find a faux fur vest that is on my list for Fall/Winter that I can use the $50 giftcard I have to buy. I will keep you updated on how I am doing! 2 months without shopping may not seem long for some of you, but for this girl, it is a serious challenge!

Moving on to today’s outfit, loving these red pants from Express – I managed to get a great deal with a coupon, clearly prior to the shopping hiatus. Red is a prominent color this year, and I plan on wearing these with blouses, cozy sweaters, and sparkly tops for going out too. Colorful pants are such a fun change from neutrals, and perfect to brighten up our dreary Seattle days. Apparently I am big on the v neck sweaters over blouses this week – but it is chilly here today, only 57 degrees, so layering is a must! This necklace is my favorite piece from the new Premier Designs catalog as well, how cool is the 2 tone coloring?

Happy Hump Day!

Looking forward to seeing all the outfits you come up with from clothes we have seen on your. Log. It will give us all lots of fresh ideas. Maybe show us your ten most versitle pie es and how many outfits you can make from them. I think that would be so helpful!

Well Mom, I can’t say that you will be seeing that much you have already seen as the season just changed and I do have some new stuff yet to be worn, but I may take on the 10 piece challenge over the weekend sometime and it will help give me new outfit ideas!

You can do this just think about the lovely new house. It will be worth it! In the mean time show us how you can shop your closet.

I’ve been lurking around your site for a while now (found it through YLF) and found this post particularly interesting since I’m also on a shopping hiatus (for six months!). If you don’t mind, I’m going to be watching and seeing how you do – it will be inspiration for me. If you’re interested, I will be writing about my no shopping experiment if you care to drop by (www.shannonscoldturkey.blogspot.com/). Good luck – and it will be TOTALLY worth it!

Love your outfit!
I totally know what you mean. I’m on a shopping ban just this month and it’s already getting tough. Good luck, you can do it 🙂

I’ve been trying to not shop for a month and it’s not easy. Even though I have a closet full of clothes. I need to learn how to be more creative with my clothing. I’d love to see a 10 versatile item post sometime, great idea!
