Birthday Partying

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a nice trip to Portland, the wedding was gorgeous and a lot of fun. Yesterday Michael went to see the Sounders play in Portland so I went to see the movie “Bad Teacher” – I thought it was funny!

I ran out of time to take photos today, but you aren’t missing anything great. I had one of those rushed Mondays and it was a bit of a “fat day” so I felt like nothing looked good – ugg. I am going to ballet class tonight though, hopefully that will help me feel a little better.

I did take photos on Friday night though, so have a post for today! We went to our friend Sarah’s birthday cocktail party, and I tried on a few different dresses but wasn’t feeling like wearing any of them. So then I remembered I had this silk skirt I picked up from Sisley in Italy, and thought I could perhaps dress it up. I have only worn it with a tank before, but decided to try it with this ruffly blouse I got awhile back and I really liked the combo!  I was searching for shoes to also dress it up a bit, and my Payless pink pumps turned out to be a perfect match to tie it all together.

Do you have a favorite cocktail party outfit?

Skirt – Sisley (similar), Blouse – NY&Co (similar), Shoes – Payless (similar)

This is so pretty; I like the way the open neck of the blouse brings so much attention to your face. This is ladylike and current, and it really highlights your best physical features.

I love this look on you! That skirt is adorable. I wish I could wear that shape, so I’m glad you can. So fun!

What a great idea to remix a weekend/casual skirt with a dressy blouse for a party. I have to remember this. You look lovely here. And the shoes are the perfect touch. I don’t have a cocktail party outfit at the moment, and I would typcially look for a dress but next time I have to go to one I’m going to reassess my skirts first to see if I can remix them like you did here. Thanks!
