Hope everyone had a great weekend! We spent ours out with my in-laws on Long Island, it is so great being close to them now.
It was an absolutely gorgeous spring day here on Sunday, mid-60′s with lots of sunshine.
I ended up wearing this cute t-shirt dress I picked up from Old Navy, very comfortable, along with some new cage sandals. LOVE these shoes!
Now it just needs to get a little bit warmer so I can jump in that pool : )
And how adorable is my little niece, Gianna!?
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Happy Friday! Hope you all have a fun weekend planned. Heading out tonight for the husband’s work party and then a fashion/tech meet-up in Manhattan. What to wear, what to wear…
At first with this cropped shirt trend I was like “yeah right”, but I actually really like the look when layered over something longer. The proportions seem very fresh to me.
So inspired by a Pinterest look, I found myself a cute but inexpensive cropped sweater and layered over a tunic blouse. My metallic shoes and a statement necklace added a little visual interest to the black & white.
Anyone else trying the cropped shirt trend?
I didn’t really fall in love with anything from Express this winter, but they have some adorable things for the spring/summer and everything is 40% off now – I think today is the last day of sale so don’t wait!
Here are my favs:
Haven’t been able to try this on, but love a flattering black jumpsuit.
This white tuxedo vest is so fresh and polished, I took a medium.
Want an easy floral sundress? Look no further. I took a medium.
Dress this uber flattering snakeskin print dress up or down. I took a size 6.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hope you all had a fab weekend! Mine was spent enjoying our nice warm weather, felt so good. Anyone else watch the Mad Men premiere? It seemed to be mostly commercials to me…
Loft is back with another 40% off sale, isn’t that nice of them? Plus they have some great new arrivals, including swimwear.
These beaded linen shorts are just gorgeous
Obsessed with this stripe linen skirt, will be so cute with a chambray top or basic tank. Reviews say to size down.
Love the slightly boho vibe of this blouse
This linen cami dress is so pretty
A lavender shift dress is perfect for spring
Love my Loft jumpsuit, and this one gets great reviews
A bikini always works, but sometimes you just want a cute one piece! Love the retro styling on these.
This gold ankle strap wedge is cute and comfy
Love the bow on these flat sandals!
What a beautiful spring day we are having here in NYC! We deserve some nice weather after this long, long winter I think : )
I’m working today from a cute little coffee shop in Soho and then tonight Michael and I are headed to Balthazar for dinner with our friend, Bill.
I wouldn’t say I ever thought camo print was something I would be dying to wear, but after seeing so many cute outfits with camo skinnies I decided I needed a pair of my own. They can be dressed down for casual weekend wear with a tee and flats, or dressed up, like I did today, with a blouse and heels.
And let me just put it out there that Loft is killing it with their pants this year. I’ve bought quite a few in different styles of the Marisa fit, as well as their super skinny jeans, and I just love them. No stretching out either!
Of course I now have these Sole Society shoes in nude as well as black… they were just too cute and comfy to pass up!
Happy Hump Day!
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend!
The last weekend of March my husband went out of town, so I invited 3 girlfriends to come for a visit. We had so much fun running around NYC and checking out all the hot spots!
This past weekend we headed with our friend’s, Elizabeth and Jim, to a very cool interactive theatre experience in Gramercy called “Speakeasy Dollhouse.” If you live in the area definitely go sometime. You get dressed up like “flappers and dappers” and basically travel to different rooms to be involved in a murder mystery of sorts. So much fun!
Last night we headed to Long Island for Michael’s grandmother’s 85th birthday celebration. I planned my outfit around this new cropped sweater jacket I picked up recently that I absolutely love – I think the faux leather cognac trim is so pretty! I also found these great layering shells at Lord & Taylor and purchased in 3 colors – the longer length is fabulous and they work well under blazers or on their own.
Happy Monday, thanks so much for stopping by!
Loft’s 40% off everything Friends & Family sale is here! Today is a preview day – use code friends1 at checkout. I’ve been so impressed with Loft’s pants lately – I love the white ankle zip pants in the Marisa fit that I picked up, and I love all my super skinnies. They’ve also got some great spring/summer dresses in now as well! Happy Shopping!
Flutter Sleeve Dress - this dress best for those with straighter bodies, not curvier types like me
White Scalloped Yoke Dress - this dress best for those with straighter bodies, not curvier types like me
Hope you all had a fun weekend!
Friday night I headed to my friend Angela’s birthday party and took a quick selfie on the way out. Working on getting a hall mirror set up so that I can take better ones! Which reminds me, my friend Jen told me I had to hear this song “But First, Let Me Take a Selfie” – ha ha, watch if you need a good laugh. Anywho, I’ve been loving the combo of black and mustard yellow so threw together this outfit, and of course added some polka dots and sparkly jewelry. I also discovered a new 5 minute hair do that is so easy and cute, the fan bun!
Last night for dinner I whipped up a pineapple chicken stir-fry inspired by this recipe I found on a great blog called JP Fashion and Organic Living. I made the recipe much larger, mine below would feed 6-8 people easily, so just scale as needed for how much you want to make. I coated the chicken in an egg wash and arrowroot powder which made a bit of a sticky dough type coating, but once I got the chicken in the pan and cooked it crisped up nicely. If you choose to do this, don’t worry too much about coating each piece, just get a little on there at least and when sauteeing it all seems to come together. You can also definitely go without this step, I would just add some arrowroot powder at the end once you’ve added the sauce to the pan to thicken it all up. Arrowroot powder is a great paleo thickening agent for sauces and stews and a little goes a long way, give it a try!
- 2 lbs. chicken breasts or thighs, cubed (I used thighs)
- 3 colorful bell peppers, chopped into chunks
- 1/2 a large onion, sliced or diced
- 2-3 eggs (optional if you decide not to coat chicken), beaten
- 1 cup or so of Arrowroot powder (optional if you decide not to coat chicken)
- 24 ounce jar of pineapple chunks in juice
- 3-4 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup plus 2 Tbps. coconut aminos or tamari sauce
- Siracha sauce to taste
- 1.5 Tbsp raw honey
- Coconut Oil for sauteeing
- Salt and Pepper
- Miracle Noodles or caulirice for serving chicken over
1. In large skillet sautee peppers and onions in coconut oil for 5-10 minutes until slightly soft, remove from pan to large plate
2. Season cubed chicken with salt and pepper
3. If desired, dip chicken in egg wash, then toss lightly in arrowroot powder – you can do handfuls at a time, don’t stress about coating really evenly
4. Add more coconut oil to pan and sautee chicken until mostly cooked through – do in a few batches if needed, I did in 2
5. While chicken is cooking, drain the juice of pineapple chunks into a sauce pan
6. Add coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar, honey, and a little siracha (start with a tsp.) to sauce pan and cook on medium high heat for 5 minutes or so – turn down to simmer and taste test – add more siracha or honey as desired
7. Once chicken almost done, add back onion and pepper mixture, along with pineapple chunks to the skillet.
8. Reserve about a half a cup or so of sauce for either shirataki/miracle noodles, kelp noodles, or caulirice. Pour the rest of the sauce over the chicken and pepper mixture in skillet and let cook on medium high until chicken is finished and everything has warmed up. Add salt or pepper if needed. Reduce heat and let sauce thicken a bit before serving.
9. I order miracle noodles from`Amazon to serve with my Asian dishes, so good and just a natural fiber made into noodles. They smell a little funny when you open, but just rinse under water in a colander and then toss with whatever sauce you want them to soak up. Other great options here would be kelp noodles or a batch of caulirice. Just toss whatever you choose with the reserved sauce and then serve your chicken mixture over it.
10. Enjoy! My husband gave this rave reviews : )
Yay, it’s Friday!!
I wore this outfit out yesterday, so excited to finally be able to wear something other than boots. I did have to cover up with a light wool coat still, but I will take what I can get. I’ve seen a number of cute lace tops popping up lately, and I managed to get this one on sale at Loft (you can too, it is 50% off now!). I decided to add some distressed jeans for contrast and then pink shoes and bag for a pop of color. Are you wearing lace this season?
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!! Thank you so much for stopping by.
Guess what people??? It is sunny and going to be over 50 today! HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!
Looks like this girl is going to be getting dressed, maybe taking some outdoor outfit pics, and then heading to Manhattan to do some returns.
Ann Taylor is having their friends & family sale right now – 40% off everything! Just use code TRENDS40
Here is what I have my eye on:
Tie-front chambray shirt? Yes please. So cute with all your colorful or printed shorts.
Yes, you do need a gorgeous lace front top.
Maybe some adorable ankle jeans in an array of spring colors? I love the grey.
I love the J.Crew look of this blouse without the high price tag.
Finally, swimwear season is just around the corner – how adorable is this cover-up?
And its colorful counterpart…
Will you be picking up anything on this sale?
Happy Hump Day Everyone!
Hope you are all having a good week so far. If you are looking for some new reading material, I just finished an awesome new book by Denise Minger called “Death by Food Pyramid: How Shoddy Science, Sketchy Politics, and Shady Special Interests have Ruined our Health.” It is a fascinating in-depth look at how we arrived at the current food pyramid and recommendations and delves into some other areas too. I highly recommend.
If movies are more your thing, I went to see “Single Moms Club” with a few friends last night and it was really, really funny. There was a lot of laughing going on, and I don’t think it was just the wine!
Still pretty cold around here, but it is warming up finally I think! This past Saturday we hit Nordstrom with my MIL and found ourselves in the accessories department. I was happy to find a beautiful, high quality array of scarves by Halogen at amazing prices! And as always, Nordstrom has free shipping and returns.
Scarves are such an easy way to not only keep a little warmer in cool spring weather, but to add a pop of color or print to spice up an outfit.
Here are some of my favs, happy shopping!
