Hope everyone had a good weekend! Saturday I had a fun night out with 2 awesome girls that I met in my sorority alumnae group, Caitlin and Angela.
It was finally warm enough to not wear boots! I decided I had to wear out my new silver metallic pumps I recently picked up. I have been on the lookout for a pair of these ever since seeing all of the awesome outfits Marion has worn with her pair. I just had to wait for some with a mid-heel to come along a decent price, and Banana Republic finally helped me out! I paired up with some new two tone skinnies I found on clearance from Nordstrom, and I love the combo of grey suede and black coated denim.
Thanks for stopping by!
We are still battling the cold here, but after some snow on Sunday night, we are looking at hopefully warmer temps from here on out!
I wore this outfit to book club a few weeks back when it was frigid out. These leather leggings have been a go-to this winter, and I plan on wearing them well into spring!
My MIL gave me this scarf for Christmas and while I loved the print, I wasn’t sure exactly how to wear a square scarf. I ended up simply tying 2 ends together and letting it drape down the front. I got lots of compliments that night so I guess it turned out ok!
Happy Hump Day!
Hi there! It has been awhile, we’ve had a lot going on here!
First of all, my cousin Tami, who came to visit very pregnant for Thanksgiving, had her adorable little girl on February 4th. Her name is Chloe Grace and she is sooo cute! We are going to the Dominican Republic over Memorial Day weekend and I will get to meet her then!
Then we got a Valentine’s Day present when my sister-in-law had her baby girl at 12:05am on February 14th. Her name is Gianna Carla and she is also adorable. Here I am holding her for the first time!
So excited to get to be an Auntie to these two baby girls. I’m happy to do some babysitting as long as I’ve had 9 hours of sleep myself : ) I also found this great website called Savvy Auntie, for cool aunts, so I obviously had to join.
This past weekend we headed out to Seattle for what else, but a baby shower and a wedding!
My friend Alicia and I hosted a shower for one of our best friend’s, Lorena, on Thursday night, and had such a great time. She is due in May but you can barely tell she is pregnant in the picture… so tiny! She is also having a little girl, it is girl’s galore these days and I like it.
Of course Alicia and I had fun making competing onesies, lol…
And we made sure there was plenty of wine! Because that, people, is what makes a good baby shower.
Friday we had a fun night out with friends…
Saturday morning I survived a workout at our old Crossfit gym… I miss my coach!!
After all that, wedding time! Now dressing for a winter wedding is harder than I thought it would be. I ordered about 20 dresses from Nordstrom and nothing worked. So I decided to get the same maxi dress I wore for a spring wedding back in May, just in black this time. I wore it with my new black and white Michael Kors shoes, and to stay warm outside, I added a little faux fur collar shrug I borrowed from my MIL, along with elbow length leather gloves.
And what a beautiful wedding it was, how gorgeous is this couple?! Congrats to Danny and Julie! They are currently sunning themselves in St. Lucia and I am very jealous…

It is a blizzard outside… literally. I know many of you out there are getting hit with this storm, and clearly we won’t be going anywhere, except in snow boots, for awhile. But spring is right around the corner so we need to be prepared right? Here are some of my favorite things out there right now that I am dreaming of wearing. Get them now so they will be ready and waiting once the blizzards are gone : )
Sole Society has another round of killer mid and low heels out, I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these. I’m having a hard time choosing! And you can’t beat their prices for the quality.
T-Strap Heel $69.95
D’Orsay Pump $69.95 -also in a gorgeous coral color
Pointed Toe Pump $64.95 – mustard is such a fun color and I also love the tan these come in
Lace Up Mid-Heel $59.95 – love, love, love
Open Toe Sandal $59.95 – hope they get these back in my size!
Obviously we will need some clothes to go with these!
I ordered this cute little t-shirt dress from Old Navy and love it. The material is thick, the stripes match up, and it is fitted without being tight. I took a small.
I’m loving Loft’s pants and denim this season, so cute. I can’t wait to get my hands on these pinstripe skinny jeans.
Along with these deconstructed skinny jeans.
And you know I am going to need some more polka dots!
I ordered this blush moto jacket that will be so perfect for spring days, and a steal at $32.80. Thank you Forever 21.
So for all of you stuck in this storm, stay warm inside and online shop : )
Last week I was feeling a bit of cabin fever so decided to put myself together and go see an early movie. This cold makes me very unmotivated to leave the house, and we are supposed to get 8-10 inches of more snow on Thursday! So I am pretty much just wearing black pants with my snow boots and then trying to mix up my tops between blouses and sweaters. It is too cold for even tights right now as far as I am concerned… this weather is very limiting style-wise…
My husband told me many snow boots and coats are sold out all over the place due to this extra cold winter we’ve been having – I’m just glad I got my cute snow boots when I did I guess!
In more exciting news, it is New York Fashion week here, and while I’m not special enough to actually get invited to any shows, I did get to see Manolo Blahnik speak at the Apple store in Soho. Very cool! Yes, that is him wearing a full green suit.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Tuesday!
Hi Everyone! I must admit I’ve been unmotivated to do much posting as I’ve been mostly trying to stay in and stay warm lately. Pretty much I wear jeans, boots, and sweaters… not very exciting! I did pick up this fabulous pair of waterproof boots that have made it not quite so terrible, because at least I think they are stylish. And they keep my feet warm and dry, even better. Available in more colors and sizes here as well. Looks like another storm is on the way too, nooooo! I am happy to see the sun more here in NY, but this cold weather is starting to wear me down.
Enough complaining, I’m not in Minnesota after all, let’s get to the happy stuff! Last Thursday I was very excited to go see “In Conversation: Tim Gunn and Valerie Steele” at the Brooklyn Museum. Basically they sort of interviewed each other and then took audience questions – so cool! I love Tim Gunn and his books, and he was wonderful to see in person.
If you ever get to NY, take some time to go to the Brooklyn Museum, such a gorgeous place with a lot to see. We went up to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit and it was truly amazing. Cool effects, such as faces on mannequins being projected and moving – crazy.
All last week I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my cousin, Lisa, and good friend, Sam. They flew in Saturday to celebrate the Super Bowl here in NY. They didn’t go to the game but thought it would be fun to come anyway, and Sam got a great deal on tickets with her Alaska points. And our Seahawks won!! Yipee!! Sorry Bronco fans… I’m actually not a big football fan, but it was still fun to watch, especially with our visitors, and we had a fun party at our place.
Getting ready to go to brunch
After brunch cocktails with my cousins Lisa and Rocky (they are brother and sister, and Rocky lives in Manhattan)
Lola getting into the Super Bowl spirit
Happy Hump Day! Stay warm!
Can’t believe Wednesday is here already!
Sunday we headed out for brunch and a Sunday Funday with some friends of ours and had a great time. We braved the freezing temps and I can assure that I am way over winter. Spring better be coming early!
I saw this bright sweater at H&M and couldn’t resist. The perfect way to shake up my winter wardrobe.
Last night for dinner I made this delicious recipe for Spicy & Sticky Coconut Honey Chicken. Honestly, one of the best things I’ve ever made, so so good. Juli’s receips are just awesome. I used a little arrowroot powder instead of tapioca starch and it worked great.
Happy Hump Day! Stay warm out there.
Burrr it is cold here! Doesn’t seem like spring is anywhere in site so I’m still picking up some winter finds, and there is a lot out there on sale or at great prices. Here are some suggestions:
Super Skinny Jeans from Loft, perfect for tucking into booties, and black ones are on sale for $35! I’m a size 27 in these.
I also love a good longer sweater, and this striped tunic on sale for just $20 is perfect. I have it in the Night Pine color, but would love a 2nd one. Not long enough for leggings, but great for skinnies. I took a medium in this.
Old Navy is tempting me with their cute nautical inspired sweaters, perfect for winter to spring.
Nordstrom has some great stuff on sale as well. This tunic is perfect to wear with leather leggings and booties, so cute. $47.40
I’m obsessed with this Vince Camuto sweater – I own it in green and purple – it has just the right amount of drape. Mine are a small. $53.40
Need a cute pair of waterproof boots? Check out these adorable Blondo boots, a steal at $103, I’m seriously considering these.
Banana Republic is having 40% off your purchase until 1/26 – if you have a need for professional items they are a great place to check out.
Wear this cute shirt dress now with black tights and booties, and wedges and bare legs once spring arrives.
I also love a good wrap dress and you can’t go wrong with leopard!
A sweater jacket is a great way to stay comfy while looking professional and pulled together. Wear over a dress or skirt and blouse for work, and with distressed jeans and a tee on weekends.
Ann Taylor is having 40% off until 5pm est. I’m loving this zebra print top!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Our weekend away at Foxwoods was awesome! And I wore color!
Blouse – Loft, Jeans – J Brand, Shoes – Michael Kors, Clutch – Ann Taylor, Necklace – Premier Designs
Last week I headed to my Chi Omega Alumnae book club. It is so great how active our chapter is here and I am very excited they have a book club, I’ve never been apart of one before and I love to read. I’m glad I took advantage of the decently warm temps to wear pumps, because it is a blizzard outside right now and this week is going to be COLD!
Last night we invited 2 other couples over for our first NYC dinner party – so much fun and the food turned out delicious!
For an appetizer I made parsnip cakes topped with avocado cream sauce and proscuitto from my cookbook “Paleo Happy Hour“. My good friend Sarah gave it to me as a going away present and I love it!
For dinner I served short ribs, which I modified for the slow cooker from this recipe. Here is what I did to modify:
- Used Bone in short ribs to avoid needing gelatin at the end
- Layered carrots in bottom of slow cooker, seared off short ribs and placed in slow cooker, then made sauce as instructed and poured over short ribs.
- Added thyme and bay leaves to slow cooker
When I pulled it out it melted right off the bones, and then I added a little arrowroot powder to the slow cooker with the sauce to thicken it up a bit, and served that on the side. I plated it along with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans tossed in meyer lemon olive oil for a delicious meal. For dessert I served berries and these absolutely to die for Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies. Honestly, make them immediately and try not to eat the whole plate… I definitely fell off the Whole 30 wagon for these, back on today!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Last Friday we headed to Manhattan to our first “Childfree NYC” meet-up event. Basically it is a group of people who choose not to have children. We met some very fun new people, and were happy to find a great group who like children, just don’t want their own. No parent or child bashing, just interesting conversation with others who have the lifestyle flexibility of not having children. One of the women that we met had also moved to NYC from Seattle fairly recently with her husband, so we had a lot to talk about. There are just so many cool and unique people in this city!
I stuck with my neutral palate streak, but mixed it up a little by choosing my cognac skirt and adding a little print with my trusty leopard print scarf.
This weekend we are headed to Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut, along with my in-laws, to give my husband a late birthday celebration. His birthday is January 2nd and it is just so close to the holidays it seems to fall by the wayside. Makes me happy my birthday is in July! I’m looking forward to relaxing in the spa, and a comedy show with one of our favorite comedians who plays Kevin on “The League.” If you haven’t seen it, it is one of our favorite shows.
Happy Friday, hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
