Old Navy Dress Haul

Aren’t dresses just the best? You throw one piece on, maybe add a little jacket and some jewelry and you are out the door. No figuring out proportions and which piece goes with what. And nothing better to keep you cool on a sweltering subway platform. Well no sweltering going on yet, but I’m nothing if not prepared, and I’ve been stocking up on some spring and summer dresses from Old Navy for fabulously low prices! I tend to always order online from Old Navy as they almost always have an extra percentage off there, as well as free shipping and returns for purchases over $50.

Some purchases have gone back, but here is what I’m keeping with sizing info. All of these are on sale now and you can get an additional 35% off today, no code needed!

Jersey Shift Dress - unfortunately this print is out of stock now, but they have it in some cute solids and a stripe! I’m wearing a medium – this dress is less forgiving, I would suggest sizing up unless you want it to be very tight.

Lace Overlay Ponte-knit Sheath Dress – this is the perfect summer LBD and could even be worn with tights now if you are in a cooler climate. I’m wearing a small.

Sleeveless Ponte Knit Sheath dress – love the nautical stripe here and pockets! I think this would be perfect for an office setting with a white or navy blazer. I’m wearing a small and may get it hemmed just a bit  (I’m 5’5) .

Striped Ponte Knit Shift Dress – this dress is a little less shapely than the others, but I got such a good deal on it I’m just going to have the tailor nip in the waist a bit, easy fix. It also comes in a navy stripe that is adorable! I love it, or any of these dresses, with this cute cropped denim jacket I picked up at Loft – now 40% off. The denim is so soft and comfortable! Wearing a small.

Sleeveless Poplin Shift Dress – this dress is super light and airy, and I love the color and print. Also great paired with a denim jacket or a white blazer.

Happy shopping and have a great weekend!

We headed out this past weekend with my in-laws for a fabulous weekend in Sonoma! One of my husband’s friends from college was getting married and we were so excited for an excuse to go back after a fabulous trip to Napa we took in 2013.

We stayed at the fabulous Carneros Inn, it was stunning and the service was top notch!

For dinner Friday i wore my orange Cynthia Steffe dress that I absolutely love and can’t wait to wear again once the weather warms up here.

We did a wine tasting tour on Friday that was so much fun! It was a little cooler Friday so I went with a long sleeved blouse and took this cute cropped denim jacket along for an extra layer.

Saturday morning we had brunch with the beautiful Adrienne of Rich Life on a Budget and her husband, Bill. It was so much fun to see them again and we always appreciate Adrienne’s wonderful recommendations on what to see and where to stay in the Napa/Sonoma area. I wore this adorable Lilly Pulitzer striped poncho/wrap. These colors are some of my favorite and it is so comfy! Check out Adrienne’s post here for details on her outfit.

Bill got Adrienne this awesome selfie stick with blue tooth! (to my friend Alicia – we need this!)

And now back to reality… thanks for stopping by!

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.

Well, maybe not groundbreaking but aren’t they pretty? I think the easiest way to find a floral piece that transitions well from winter to spring is to find one that has a little black in it. This way you can pair with black tights or black leather pieces easily now, and then get rid of them once bare leg season finally arrives.

Sole Society Spring/Summer

My love of Sole Society is no secret! And I’m totally obsessing over some of the new spring/summer shoes they have out. Such fun colors and neutrals, all along with manageable heel heights and reasonable prices – can it get any better! They’ve been selling out a lot lately and not restocking, so don’t wait if there is something you really want. I’m still sad about a striped d’orsay pump I didn’t get my hands on in time… But in good news we are finally getting a glimpse of spring weather here in NYC!

Nahara Small Wedge – these are first on my list!

Anne Almond Toe Wedge - the anchors!

Vince Camuto Estelle Slingback Bootie

Hot Pink

Went out for karaoke with my sorority sisters this past Friday, so much fun! It was still freezing out but this hot pink sweater was the perfect way to add some color to a black skirt, tights, and booties – a great winter to spring transition piece. I use this polka dot clutch all the time to add pattern to outfits as well – one of my favorite items and it works year round.

Rent the Runway

We have a wedding coming up in Sonoma in a few weeks (so excited!) and I needed a new dress! It is a 4pm wedding, but the dress code is formal, and it has been a long time since I’ve been to a formal wedding. As to not be over or under-dressed, I was looking for either a more simple gown or a fancier cocktail dress.

I ended up buying a dress at Bloomingdale’s, but I decided it was just too expensive for how many times I would probably wear it. I’ve always thought about trying Rent the Runway before but never have. At the encouragement of my friend, Morgan, who uses their services often, I decided it was time to take the plunge! There is a showroom in Soho where I could try on dresses, so I made an appointment, braved the snowstorm, and headed over.

The showroom was beautiful and the girl assigned to work with me was super sweet and helpful. She had me go through the racks to pick what I liked, found whatever size she had closest to mine for those choices, and also pulled some of her picks for me.

I ended up with 3 that I could hardly choose between!

I ended up going with the green gown – how many chances do you have to wear a full length dress?! Plus I loved the color and thought it was perfect for an early spring wedding.

I wish I didn’t wait so long to use this service! Now instead of paying $250 for a dress I might wear a few times, I am spending $110 to rent a dress I absolutely love and would likely only wear once anyway. The black and white dress was a close second (polka dots you know), and I definitely plan on renting it for something else for $70. With each rental you will pay about $15 in shipping and insurance, but they do have a deal that for $29.99 you can get a membership that will cover those for all rentals for a whole year. I plan on renting more than twice a year now, so signed up for that.

My suggestion for sizing would be to read the reviews, but I think in general designer clothes aren’t as vanity sized, so tend to go up a size. You get a second size for free with each rental too, so that is very helpful. If you have your eye on a certain dress that is a designer offered in your local department store, you could also go try on a dress for size there. For reference I would say I’m normally a 6 in dresses, but ended up needing a 10 in the green gown, and an 8 in both of the other dresses.

You will get $25 off your first rental, and use this link here to sign up to get a $20 credit after your first rental!

Anyone used Rent the Runway before? Let me know your experience!

Gah, could it snow anymore?! Seriously it is March and I’m over it. So I’m having fun with some of my new spring items and am planning on featuring winter to spring transition outfits over the next few weeks.

Windowpane prints have been all the rage lately, and I was so excited to get these pants in the mail. I love the Old Navy pixie pants and these were no exception. So many ways to wear a fun black and white print! Plus these are on sale for $25 and an additional 20% off of that through tomorrow. Get yours now! I also picked up the black and white polka dot and red polka dot and can’t wait to play around with those too.

What do you think, would you wear these pants?

St. Lucia

Hi there! Back from a wonderful week on the beautiful island of St. Lucia! Had such a great time with my husband and in-laws. We stayed at The Landing there which I highly recommend.

It was so nice to get out of this bitterly cold weather and into some new warm weather items!

I absolutely love this new Eliza J maxi dress – now on sale for less than $100! I took a size 6 in this. It has a built in bra that helps make it comfortable and practical.

Received this tropical print sundress from Express just in time to pack it, so glad I did! I’m wearing a medium. I also found these nude wedges just before we left as well and I love them! So comfy.

I love that this sequin skirt works well for vacation and also for nights out in the city. Skirt here, blouse here. I’m wearing a medium in both.

For the trip home I chose this comfy maxi, love the flattering print. Wearing a medium, but I did have it taken up a bit at the shoulder and needed a hem.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope all of you in this cold have a warm weather vacation planned too!

Black and Cobalt

Headed out for happy hour with the girls last night, still freezing here but decided to brighten things up with this fun blue blazer – I love this color! Added some texture with leather leggings and some sparkle with a statement necklace. Can’t wait to also wear this blazer with white jeans and a printed blouse for spring – it’s a great transition piece and even better, only $25. I’m typically a medium in F21 blazers but took a large in this. It could be a little smaller, but the medium was a little too small. And being able to move your arms is important I think.

Blazer – F21, Blouse – Lord and Taylor, Leggings – Hue, Shoes – Express (similar), Bag – Michael Kors, Necklace – Premier Designs

Uncommon Goods

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly, and if you are anything like me, finding gifts for your significant other is a challenge! My husband is so hard to shop for! So I was very excited when the company, Uncommon Goods, asked if I would like to review some products. I checked out the site and immediately agreed – this was exactly the kind of thing I had been looking for! A company that features unique designs and handcrafted gifts. And not just for my husband, but for my in-laws, mom, dad, the list goes on.

This fabulous, socially aware and privately-owned retailer is based out of Brooklyn, just a few miles from where I live! Their lowest paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage, and half of what they sell is made by hand. Most products are created here in the USA and 1/3 are made from recycled or upcycled materials. So cool!

The hubby and I are both big wine drinkers so I picked out some wine items to give Michael for Valentine’s Day. I mean, it doesn’t hurt if I get to use them too, right? I decided to go with the a wine preserver bottle and some wine pearls. Click here for some more great Valentine’s Day ideas for husbands, and here for ideas for wives.

Now let’s be honest, when we open a bottle of wine we don’t often end up with leftovers, but some weeknights I open a bottle and have a glass or two when Michael is out or doesn’t want any. Hence this great bottle that helps keep it fresh up to a week after opening. I didn’t get to try it with red yet, but definitely excited about that as red tends to go bad so quickly. Plus you get the added benefit of decanting it.

My crazy, fun Italian in-laws love their wine as well (it’s one of the reasons we get along so well). They also like really cold white wine. This usually involves adding ice cubes to make it cold enough. Well these wonderful little wine pearls solve the problem, keeping your white cold without watering it down. Just store them in the freezer and add to your wine as needed. My mother-in-law and father-in-law are definitely getting a few packages of these babies for some upcoming birthdays!

So glad I got the opportunity to try this company out! You can find personalized gifts here, and gifts for all the women in your life here as well. Be sure to give them a shot the next time you are wondering what to get someone and let me know what you think!

*I was given these products for free to review, but as always, all opinions are my own.
